The city forest consists for the most part of coniferous forest. You will find pine-dominated outcrop areas above all in the northern part of the forest. The entire forest has a varying element of deciduous trees with small stands of deciduous trees. Near Skogshall there are twelve planted beech trees which are now spreading. Larch has also been planted in some places in the northern part of the forest. In the southern and southwestern part of the forest there are stretches of swamp forest.

Troll Forest

An area in the forest is called Trollskogen. It is an area that has been left completely untouched since 1970. Fallen tree trunks are allowed to rot and the forest is allowed to completely shape itself. Insects, arboreal fungi, mosses and lichens thrive in the Trollskogen.
Trollskogen is a Smultron place in nature.
